iCON Infrastructure hires ex-CEO of Hochtief Concessions

Fund manager iCON Infrastructure has hired Reiner Schränkler to work in its newly-established office in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Reiner worked for 7 years at Hochtief AG in Germany as a member of their Global Executive Committee and CEO of Hochtief Concessions AG, which owned interests in 6 airports responsible for c.85 million passengers p.a., 7 toll roads in Europe, North and South America and c.100 PPP projects in Germany, the UK and North America.

Prior to joining Hochtief, he spent 15 years in investment banking where he focused on infrastructure M&A. Reiner will also be a member of iCON's Investment Committee.

In early April 2013, infrastructure investor iCON reached the final close on its second fund, iCON Infrastructure Partners II, with $599.95 million in commitments.

The iCON team spun out of Deutsche Bank into an independent investment firm, iCON Infrastructure LLP, in 2011. It targets mid-teen IRRs for its investors, with a principal focus on brownfield infrastructure. However, it can take some greenfield risk. Geography focus is Europe, North America and Australia.
