Hospital del Tajo and associated facility management operating company Explotadora del Hospital del Tajo have been sold to Quaero European Infrastructure Fund, an infrastructure fund managed by Quaero Capital. The former owners of the project were Assignia Infraestructuras, Instalaciones Inabensa, a subsidiary of Abengoa, and Sando Concesiones.
The hospital is located in Aranjuez, in the south of the Community of Madrid. It has been in operation since 2007. As the only large health care facility in the municipality of Aranjuez (58,000 inhabitants), it provides clinical services to over 70,000 people from the municipalities of Aranjuez, Colmenar de Oreja, Chinchon, Valdelaguna and Villaconejos. The hospital is part of the New Public Health Infrastructure Plan (2004-07), which was launched by the Community of Madrid in 2004. The hospital’s clinical services are provided directly by the Community of Madrid and are not included in the perimeter of the transaction.
The original concession was awarded by la Consejería de Sanidad de la Comunidad de Madrid, the regional health authority of Madrid, in 2005. Assignia Infraestructuras, Construcciones Sánchez Domínguez-Sando and Instalaciones Inabensa were contracted to construct, operate and maintain the hospital for 30 years, with a possible extension of ten years.
Rubicon acted as the sole and exclusive transaction advisor.
