HarbourVest continues to expand Real Assets expertise with appointment of Kevin Warn-Schindel as a Managing Director

HarbourVest has announced that Kevin Warn-Schindel has joined the firm as a Managing Director based in Boston, USA, to lead the Real Assets investment program.

The Real Assets investment program includes a focus on energy, infrastructure, natural resources, and real estate.

HarbourVest has expanded its capabilities and platform for investing in real assets to leverage its expertise, experience, and relationships in the market. The firm has expanded since early 2014 to include professionals focused on real assets who have integrated into our existing process and platform. HarbourVest currently manages nearly $1 billion of capital focused on investing in real assets.

Brett Gordon, managing director of HarbourVest, stated:

"HarbourVest has been reviewing opportunities in real assets for quite some time. We continue to see strong interest in real assets and believe this is a natural extension of the HarbourVest platform across the private markets. Kevin's leadership and depth of experience in real assets complement our team's expertise in primary, secondary, and co-investment activities. As we build out this platform, we expect to add additional team members with real assets expertise who will be integrated into our existing teams and processes."

Kevin Warn-Schindel joined HarbourVest in January 2015 to lead the Real Assets investment program. Kevin joined the firm after ten years as the Group Head and Managing Director of the OPTrust Private Markets Group, an investment unit of OPTrust, a Toronto-based defined benefit pension plan. At OPTrust, he led the creation of the global investment management platform with offices in Toronto, London, and Sydney and developed and executed a global portfolio of investment strategies.

Prior to OPTrust, he was an investment executive at Macquarie Bank and an investment banker at RBC Capital Markets. Kevin is the Chair of the Board of Export Development Canada, the Canadian federal government trade finance agency and also a Director of the Economic Investment Trust Ltd, a TSX listed closed-end investment fund.

Kevin received a BA from Simon Fraser University.
