Guaruja seeks developer for airport concession

The city of Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, Brazil, has recently issued an international bidding process for the development of the Civil Metropolitan Airport in the municipality, which is part of the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista.

The private party will be responsible for construction, operation and maintenance of the airport through a concession period of 30 years. The project investment is estimated at $300 million (US$85,22 million). 

The Federal Government has granted to the municipality an area of ​​1.5 million square meters, of which 262,000 square meters will be allocated to the development of passenger terminal, landing strips, parking, gas station and hangars. 

The site shares area with the Santos Air Base an it has also a reserved area for future expansion of equal size.

The airport must receive between 115,000 to 130,000 passengers the first year, and it is expected to reach 1 million of passenger annually from 5th to 8th year of operation.
