The government of Greece has approved the 13 km long Eastern Inner Peripheral road project in Athens.
The scope of works includes the construction of the following sections:
Upgrading of the 9.5 km long section from Level Junction -K5 (area of Papageorgiou Hospital - former Karatasos camp) to the area of "GENESIS" Hospital with the addition of an Elevated Expressway.
Widening of 3.5 km long section "GENESIS" - Level Junction -K12 (connection with Thessaloniki-Moudania National Road)
The drafting works for the auction will begin now. The project is scheduled to be awarded by end of 2021.
The expected investment for the project is EUR 370 million (US$ 422.46 million). The project will be developed under a public-private partnership program and availability payments will be made to the concessionaire.
By 2030 the project is expected to serve 7,500 cars per hour in each direction. The concession period for the project is 30 years, out of which 4 years will be construction period.
The Government of Greece through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has prequalified the five teams that submitted proposals in July for the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the Kalamata - Rizomylos - Pylos - Methoni road project in southwest Peloponnese.

The Parliament's Standing Committee on Production and Trade of Greece has approved the legislation the ratifies the contract for the development of the new international airport in Kastelli on Crete. Despite some objections to the project, the committee gathered the majority of approval for the plan. The new Kastelli International Airport will be the largest construction project ever on Crete and would be one of the largest private investments in the country.
