GMR Infrastructure appoints new Managing Director Kiran Kumar Grandhi

GMR Infrastructure has appointed Kiran K. Grandhi as new Managing Director in substitution of Mr. B.V.N. Rao, who will continue as a Director on the Board of Directors of GMR Infrastructure.

The change came after the company's board approved the key management reshuffle as part of group's rotation policy, development and realignment of roles amongst senior management.

Grandhi, who headed - urban infrastructure and highways businesses, has now been given corporate chairman with responsibility for group finance and corporate strategic planning department functions. Rao, who was chairman, is now been made responsible for highways, EPC division, SEZ and GMR Varalakshmi foundation, in addition to his current responsibilities for corporate affairs, legal and procurement.

According to local sources, Grandhi has led the group to become one of the top five private airport developers in the world and the largest in India. He was instrumental  He was in bagging two critical international projects for the Group - Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SGIA), Istanbul, Turkey and Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), Maldives.

Grandhi entered GMR Group in 1996.
