Ghana lenders bulk cargo terminal concession

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has launched the Request for Expresion of Interest (EOI) stage for the Greenfield Dry Bulk Terminal concession in Takoradi, Ghana.

GPHA started the Takoradi Port Expansion Program in 2014 which included the extension of the breakwater, the deepening of the access channel and port basin, and the construction of the infrastructure for the Dry Bulk Terminal.

The concession seeks to achieve the following principal objectives:

  • Introduce an independent Terminal Operator into the Port of Takoradi to handle bulk ore cargo for a variety of entities and cargo owners and to generate the necessary incentives for the rapid development of traditional ore mines to the benefit of the Ghanaian economy.
  • Increase the bulk ore cargo throughput capacity and the operational efficiency of the Port of Takoradi, in particular for the sustenance of guaranteed volumes and services within the sub-cluster.

Interested parties must submit their Expression of Interest before June 30th.
