Georgia Department of Transportation in the USA has opened a virtual public hearing for its SR 400 Express Lanes project. The project will be the state’s first Public-Private Partnership (P3), Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM) project.
The project focuses on adding two, buffer-separated express lanes in each direction between the MARTA North Springs Station and McGinnis Ferry Road. Additionally, one buffer-separated express lane is planned to be constructed in each direction from McGinnis Ferry Road to McFarland Parkway. The proposed SR 400 Express Lanes project would construct express lanes to an approximately 16-mile section of SR 400 from the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) North Springs Station (Exit 5C) in Fulton County to approximately 0.9 miles north of McFarland Parkway (Exit 12) in Forsyth County.
The project will be part of the larger Georgia Express Lanes Network, designed to provide a connected transportation network with reliable trip times for motorists and transit users. In February 2021, the SR 400 Express Lanes project received approval from the US DOT for the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
The deadline to submit official comments is July 3, 2021. The virtual meeting room can be accessed here.
