French-Turkish consortium wins passenger terminal concession in Croatia

The joint venture formed by the Turkish company Global Ports Holding and the French firm Bouygues Batiment International have won the contract for the second phase of the modernization of a Passenger Terminal at the Port of Dubrovnik.

The joint venture has been selected as preferred bidder among a total of twenty teams interested in the project. 

The consortium will be responsible of designing, building, financing, operating and maintaining (DBFOM) the new terminal under a concession contract of 40-years.

The total project investment is estimated at €94 million (US$104 million) and it is expected to be completed by 2018. The consortium will also spend €25 million in concession fees. The total value of the concession is estimated at €750 million.

The project's scope encompasses the development of a new cruise ship terminal creating additional 400 m of quay line. The new area will be intended for local and  international ferry traffic, oriented on development of multi-modal transport with a cruise passenger terminal, large multipurpose trade center, public garage, city congress hall and a huge range of different leisure and entertainment facilities.

The final deadline for signing of the contract is October 2017.

The port of Dubrovnik is categorized as passenger port open for public transport, it is one of six ports of international economic importance to the Republic of Croatia. Dubrovnik port distinguishes among ports on Croatian part of the Adriatic by its orientation to cruise traffic.
