Four teams bid for Chilean road concession

The Chilean Minister of Public Works has recently announced that four groups has shown interest in Ruta R20 Nogales - Puchuncavi road PPP project re-tender process. The four bidders submitted their economic proposal during a public ceremony held on March 29th.

The groups which have showed interest in the project development are the following:

  • A consortium formed by Besalco Concesiones S.A, Belfi S.A and Icafal Inversiones S.A
  • Sacyr Concesiones Chile SpA
  • A consortium formed by Acciona Concesiones Chile Ltda and CAM Holding SpA.
  • OHL Concesiones Chile

The project involved the upgrade of the 27 km route and the development of a 16 km bypass to Laguna Maitencillo and Quintero.

The new project includes the 7 kilometer Bypass in Puchuncaví and the 9 kilometer Bypass in Ventana. In addition, three new viaducts will be built: a second Nogales bridge and Puchuncaví and Chocalán bridges. Six new pedestrian bridges, local streets and more and better signaling will also be developed.

The R20 Nogales - Puchuncavi road will link Route 5 North with coastal areas such as Maitencillo, Zapallar and Papudo, in the region of Valparaiso. 

The total project investment is estimated at US$210 million. 

Alberto Undurraga,Chile's Public Works Minister, said:

"Last week the President of the Republic announced a plan to improve roads for US$908 million, and now we received the news that four companies are interested in the re-tender process of one of the first concessions generated in the country, as is the Nogales-Puchuncaví PPP project. "
