Brazil's municipality of Cuiabá has authorized four companies to prepare feasibility studies for a potential PPP project in the municipal waste services.

The main two questions to be analyzed in the feasibility studies are the technology to be used in the project and the project location. The companies will submit their proposals in the coming days.
Cuiabá is the capital city of the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso. It is located in the exact centre of South America and forms the metropolitan area of the state, along with the neighbouring town of Várzea Grande.
Brazil has several PPP water & waste projects in planning stage. In early June the city of Sumaré (São Paulo state) launched a public consultation to allow interested parties to review the draft tender documents and contracts for a concession relative to the water supply and sanitation services of the city.
