Five teams in race for Mexican highway concession

Mexico's Ministry of Transport and Communications (SCT)  has received a total of five proposals for the development of La Galarza – Amatitlanes highway PPP project.

The tender process was launched on February 4. The five teams that have submitted proposals for the project are the following:

  • Supra Construcciones
  • Coconal
  • Omega Corporación
  • Constructora y Pavimentadora Vise and Construcciones y Carreteras and Maquiobras (Construcarr)
  • Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana (Podemex)

The project involves the design, build, operation and maintenance (DBOM) of a 16 km road during a 30 year period. The highway will serve about 2,300 vehicles per day and it is expected that the new road will reduce the travel time from 1 hour to 40 minutes.

The total project investment is estimated at 650 million pesos (US$35.4 million).

Proposals are scheduled to be opened on June 3. The preferred bidder is expected to be announced on June 17.
