Five Peruvian regions are seeking to implement a 44-infrastructure project plan under public-private partnership model. The total value of this PPP pipeline is around PEN8,9 billinon (US$2.7 billion).
The Apurímac, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Ica and Junín regional governments were the administrations looking into developing the PPP projects.
According to Proinversion, the Peruvian Agency for promotion of private investment in the country, Apurímac submitted 15 projects with a total investment of PEN6.66 billion, including the US$1.27 billion Río Pampas-Apurímac multi-purpose hydropower project, the US$98.6mn Santa Rosa-Antabamba highway, the US$70.5 million Abancay-Curahuasi tunnel and two hospitals totaling PEN533 million.
Huancavelica seeks to implement 16 projects totaling PEN1.61 billion in investment, including the PEN527 million Qapaq Ñan-Lima highway, the PEN306 million Huancavelica-Paucará road and the PEN24 million Pallalla-Acobamba road.
Junín region promoted the PEN299 million Palian-Pariahuanca highway; the Cunas river project (PEN281million) and the Sapallanga irrigation project (PEN53 million).
Ayacucho region presented six projects (PEN56 million) involving street paving and schools, while Ica region presented water projects in six provinces.
According to sources, ProInversión director Carlos Herrera said:
"It's indispensable we continue efforts to reduce the infrastructure gap, improve connectivity and strengthen logistics chains. We will need to prioritize the development of projects at all levels of government."
