Brazilian state of Goiás, through the state water company Saneago, has announced that it has received five expressions of interest for a PPP contract to improve wastewater services in the Entorno do Distrito Federal microregion.

Goiânia-based Saneago is engaged in the supply and treatment of water and in the collection and treatment of sewage.

The companies interested in the project are the following:

• Odebrechet Ambiental
• AEGEA Saneamento e Participações S.A. (Grupo Equipav)
• Cab Projetos e Investimentos em Saneamento Básico
• Conen Consultoria e Engenharia; and
• Servi Operações Técnicas e Serviços.

The deadline for expressions of interest for the project was extended from March 14th to April 1st.

The area covered by the PPP contract includes ten municipalities: Águas Lindas de Goiás, Alexânia, Cidade Ocidental, Cristalina, Formosa, Luziânia, Novo Gama, Planaltina, Santo Antônio do Descoberto and Valparaíso de Goiás.

According to sources, Saneago expects to reach 95% wastewater collection and treatment in the state by 2018. Current coverage rate for both collection and treatment of sewage in the area is 44.8%.
