First hospital PPP awarded in Colombia

The City Government of Bogota, through the District Health Secretariat, awarded Spanish Consortium Estructura Prueral INORIN Bosa Hospital the project for the design, construction, and provision of the new Bosa hospital in Bogota

This transaction is the first hospital in the history of the country to be built under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme and will benefit more than 400,000 people in Bogota, residents of the towns of Bosa, Kennedy, Puente Aranda and Fontibón. 

This project was structured by the National Development Finance - FDN, by forming a multidisciplinary team with the highest international standards. 

The contract states that the consortium, of Spanish origin, will also be responsible for the maintenance of the new Bosa hospital for 15 years.

In total, 13 companies have expressed their interest in the project, 12 qualified and 4 submitted their offers in the tender. The consortium members have not been named yet.

For this mega-project, the District will invest COP 1 billion (US$302,219). The investment of the necessary resources for the construction will be 100% private and the public disbursements will only start once the hospital is fully finished and in perfect working condition.

The private partner will guarantee the maintenance of the entire infrastructure, the maintenance, and replacement of the biomedical equipment and furniture, as well as the cleaning, disinfection and surveillance services.

The new Bosa hospital will bring 215 new beds to the city and will focus on providing medium and high complexity services, aimed at the care of chronic patients with cardiovascular, renal, diabetes, early cancer detection, Epoc, and osteoarthritis, among other. The hospital will be located on Calle 73 Sur # 100 A 53 and will have a built area of ​​around 30,000 square meters. 

Works are expected to begin in 2021 and the hospital is planned to be operational in 2023.
