The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has accredited financial closure for COP700 billion (US$179.19 million) on the Northern Access Project Phase II in Colombia.
The Fifth Generation Northern Access Project Phase II secures financing for expansion works along the Northern Highway between Calle 192 and 245, Carrera Séptima between Calle 201 and 245, and the Perimetral de Sopó. Spanning 17.96 km, the project receives support from Financiera de Desarrollo Nacional FDN and is strategically significant for connecting and facilitating access in the northern area of Bogotá with the departments of Cundinamarca, Boyacá, and Santanderes. The total investments for the project amount to COP 2.34 trillion (US$599 million).
Currently, the project is in the Preoperational Stage - Preconstruction Phase, awaiting the fulfillment of certain conditions, including the issuance of environmental licenses for functional units 1 to 5 (Highway Expansion North) to commence the construction phase. Since June 2022, the operation and maintenance of the existing infrastructure have been carried out under contractual obligations and technical specifications outlined in the concession contract. The construction phase of the project is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2024.
