Financial close of USD137.76 million desalination PPP project in Oman

GS Inima has announced the financial close for the Barka V desalination plant located in Barka, in the Al Batinah region of northern Oman for a value of EUR135 million (US$137.76 million). The Independent Water project has a capacity of 100,000 m3/day and will supply drinking water to a population of 800,000 people. 

The project is a component of the 20-year water delivery agreement that Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and GS Inima inked on December 24, 2020. The private firm was awarded the Concession, EPC, and O&M of the reverse osmosis plant. The completion of the construction and commissioning of the project is scheduled for June 6, 2024 developed under a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) contract basis.

The long-term financing of the project has been provided by from Korea Export-Import Bank (Kexim), Bank Muscat, Standard Chartered Bank and KEB Hana Bank London.
