The Southern Consortium (CDS), made of companies Eurofinsa SA and Ingeniería de Topografía y Caminos SA, has achieved financial close for Costanera Sur project. The US$130 million project will have 7.5 kilometers long highway connecting Lambaré Hill to Avda Colón. The project is part of undertakings by the State, to which is added the Home Construction project. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has provided US$100 million to finance the works with a repayment term of 10 years with a 3-year grace period.
The Costanera Sur road will optimize the road connectivity of Central-West and South Asunción with the South and Southwest part of the metropolitan area. It also seeks to contribute to improving the quality of life of the families of the Riverfront that were affected by floods for many years, of the inhabitants of the metropolitan area, facilitating the road connection with greater fluidity.
With this, it will be possible to provide a solution to the recurring problem of Bañado Sur and, in this way, improve the quality of life of the population through the construction of houses of social interest and quality urban infrastructure, seeking the environmental recovery of lagoons, streams and wetlands; the protection of natural buffer zones; the generation of conditions of economic and institutional sustainability and improvement of the adaptive capacity of families.
The project will promote the coastal development of the capital of the country.
