East Dunbartonshire Council, development partner hub West Scotland and contractor Clark Contracts have achieved financial closure to redevelop Kilmardinny House, a Georgian mansion, into a conference, wedding and arts centre through the PPP model.

The total project investment is estimated at £2.73 million (US$3.88 million).Construction work is expected to begin in early May and is set to complete in late December 2016.

The December 2015 Planning Board approved  the proposal to create a new garden pavilion extension, which will provide a modern, flexible space and enhance the venue as a centre for local arts, performance and community groups. It will also create a modern, flexible space that can be used for a range of activities including performances, exhibitions, conferences and weddings.

The existing popular Category A listed House will be partially refurbished, both inside and out, including redecoration and some repairs to external stonework and windows.

Councillor Alan Moir, Convener of the Council’s Development & Regeneration Committee, said,

“This is great news for Bearsden, and East Dunbartonshire as a whole, and will see major investment in the town.

"Kilmardinny House is a well-established and much loved local asset that is well used by many groups and organisations. I am delighted this very exciting project will go ahead and we look forward to seeing it take shape in the coming months.”
