China Everbright International Limited has announce that the Shandong Weifang Waste-to-energy Project Phase I, in Weifang, China, has been completed and has commenced operation.
With a total investment of approximately RMB586 million (US$91 million), Weifang Project Phase I has a designed daily household waste processing capacity of 1,000 tonnes. The Project Phase I is expected to generate over 122,000,000 kWh of green electricity annually.
Mr. Chen Xiaoping, CEO of Everbright International, said,
"Weifang Project is the first project in Weifang Everbright Environmental Protection Industrial Park. The successful construction of the Project will facilitate the progress of other environmental protection projects in the park. It is also the Group's fifth waste-to-energy project that has completed construction and commenced operation to date this year, following Zhenjiang Waste-to-energy Project Phase II in Jiangsu Province, Boluo Waste-to-energy Project in Guangdong Province, Ningbo Waste-to-energy Project Phase II in Zhejiang Province and Rizhao Waste-to-energy Project in Shandong Province. The completion of construction and commencement of operation of the projects not only helped to establish demonstration projects but also created strong growth potential for the Group".
Weifang is a prefecture-level city in central Shandong province, People's Republic of China. Its population is approximately 9.1 million inhabitants. Its metro area is made up of 4 urban districts (Kuiwen, Weicheng, Hanting and Fangzi) and Changle County largely being urbanized.
