Epirus waste management PPP reaches its final phase

On February 3, 2014, the second phase of the tender for the selection of the private partner who will undertake the implementation of the Epirus waste management PPP project began.

Candidates concluded the competitive dialogue procedure and are invited to receive the tender documents for Phase II as follows:

  1. TERNA ENERGY
  2. ERETVO - DOMOSPORT - EGNON
  3. AKTOR CONCESSIONS - HELEKTOR
  4. ARCHIRODON GROUP NV - INTRAKAT - ENVITEC
  5. TOXOTIS
  6. ÎœESOGEIOS - J&P AVAX

The private partners will undertake the design, financing, construction, maintenance, facility management and operation of the respective waste treatment facility for 27 years.

The facility in Epirus will manage about 150 thousand tons of waste annually, including all municipal solid waste generated in the entire administrative area of Epirus.

As in all waste management PPP competitions in Greece, the process allows all available technologies that cover the environmental targets, European and Greek legislation.

The lowest fee to be paid by the users will constitute the main selection criterion, while meeting all environmental goals. The project will be co-financed by the European Union's structural funds.
