Egypt launches tenders for port PPP projects

The Red Sea Ports Authority (RSPA), a subsidiary of Egypt's ministry of transportation, has launched two tender processes for PPP projects, the Safaga Port project and the Eltoor Port project.

The Safaga Port project involves constructing, operating, managing, maintaining, and redelivering a marine Jetty and a container terminal in the port of Safaga on a land area of 220.000m.

Safaga Port is located on the Red Sea, approximately 60 kilometers south of Hurghada. With a depth reaching 16 meters, vessel capacity at the port can accommodate up to 60,000 tons, with daily shipping volume recorded at 12,000 tons.

The inquiries' session for this project is scheduled on May 11th, 2014, while the opening of the bidding envelopes will be on June 6th, 2014.

The Eltoor PPP project involves constructing, operating, managing, maintaining, and redelivering a marine jetty and the multi-purpose terminal in the port of Eltoor on a land area of 220.000m.

The inquiries' session for this project is scheduled on May 25th, 2014, while the opening of the bidding envelopes will be in June 20th, 2014.
