The Ministry of finance has picked 10 public-private partnerships (PPP) projects to be delivered in 2013, said Minister of Finance Al-Morsi Hegazy during a press conference on Tuesday. The conference was also attended by Abdallah Shehata, economic advisor for the minister of finance and Ater Hanoura, head of the PPP Unit at the Ministry of Finance.
The ten projects are the following:
- Abu Rawash Waste-Water-Treatment Plant. Investments of around EGP 5.5bn
- Recycling of solid waste into energy and biofuel
- Safaga Industrial Port. The project is still being studied and is expected to be tendered by July 2013 with a cost total of between EGP 6bn and EGP 8bn.
- Suez Canal hospital. The projects are expected to be opened for bidding in August or September 2013. Preliminary studies are expected to be finished next May.
- Desalination Project in Sharam Al-Sheikh. Preliminary studies will begin in July and end in August.
- Desalination project in Hurgada. Preliminary studies will begin in July and end in August.
- Cairo Contact Center in Maadi
- River-bus on the Nile. Preliminary studies will soon begin
- Shobra-Banha Road
- Railway line to 10th of Ramadan city. To be open for bids in October 2013. The project will run a distance of 72km and will pass by 12 stations.
