The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (ERBD) has recently published an invitation seeking developers for the implementation of the District Heating System PPP project with installed biomass co-generation plant in the Municipality Sokolac, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The public private partnership project will be developed through the method of design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) during a 15 year-lease agreement, which could be extended for 5 years. The capital investments are realized during the period of 4 years with approximately total amount of BAM15.2 million (US$8.88 million).

More specifically the private party will be in charge of designing, renewal/reconstruction, construction, organization, operation, putting into operation, production of electricity and heat in the biomass co-generation plant and delivery of heat to the District Heating System in Sokolac.

According to the feasibility study, installation of biomass co-generation plant with Organic Rankin cycle technology for energy production is analyzed with electricity production capacity of 1 MW and heat capacity of 4.1 MW.

The project purposes is to obtain a sustainable district heating system and its expansion to the remaining parts of Municipality Sokolac urban area and some suburban neighborhoods improving the heating quality with increased energy efficiency and prevention of high level pollution.
