The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will advise Belarus on the project to upgrade the Russian border-Gomel-Kobrin M-10 section.
The EBRD and IFC will support the government of Belarus on technical, legal, social and environmental matters.
The project will be the first public private partnership (PPP) project to be launched in the country. The objective is to begin construction works by March 2017.
The EBRD announced in early 2015 that is mulling financing the project. Belarus joined the EBRD in 1992, since them the EBRD has provided over €1,640 million of finance to the country, of which €876 million has been provided during the last four years.
Belarus is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe bordered by Russia to the northeast. Its strongest economic sectors are service industries and manufacturing.
