Rijksgebouwendienst, the Dutch Government Buildings Agency (RGD), has selected R Creators as the preferred bidder for the Utrecht Button Barracks PPP project in Holland.
The contractor will be R Creators B.V. including the shareholders Strukton Integrale Projecten (80%) and Facilicom PPS Contracten (20%). The performing parties of R Creators are Strukton Worksphere, Ballast Nedam and Facilicom Bedrijfsdiensten and the design was created by the architects Cepezed (building), Fokkema & Partners (interior) and Rijnboutt (urban integration).
The consortium got a provisional award and the final award is scheduled for 23 June. The team beat out competition from two other shortlisted consortia.
The building, which currently has 20,850 m² will be redeveloped into a government office and expanded to a total of approximately 30,000 m². The building will also include 200 parking spaces for cars and 500 bicycle spaces. The office will serve as a multifunctional office building suitable for several government organisations. The Knoop will support working independently of location and time and offers facilities for meeting, networking and working together.
The preferred bidder will be responsible for the design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) of the new facilities for a period of 20 years. The contract has a net present value of more than €100 million (US$110.2 million).
