Dublin launches PIN for housing PPP project

The Dublin City Council, Ireland, has launched a prior information notice (PIN) for the development of "public" homes though a public private partnership (PPP) project.

The primary objective of the project is to increase provision of private and public housing on City Council owned lands. The project will be developed in three sites:

  • Site A - Cherry Orchard, D10 c. 8.2 hectares
  • Site B - Oscar Traynor Road, D5 c. 16 hectares
  • Site C - Belcamp Lane, D5 c. 6.3 hectares

Through the housing PPP project the council will supply the land and the preferred bidder will build social and private housing.

According to sources, under a new model, housing would remain in the rental market due to the fact that if property prices collapses, developers usually pull out of the deals, leaving several planned housing schemes unbuilt.

The tender process is scheduled to be launched on 27 February 2015.
