Deadline extended for Maldives bridge PPP

The Government of the Republic of Maldives has extended the last date of submission of Expressions of Interest for the DBFMO Male'-Hulhule bridge project.

The new deadline is 12th January 2014 (14:00 hrs, local time), extended from 29 December 2013.

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed told reporters the deadline had been extended until January 12 following numerous requests citing Christmas and New Year holidays.

According to Saeed, seven companies from China, two from India and one each from Hong Kong, US, Turkey, Australia, France and the Maldives had already submitted proposals.

Details on EoI submission guidelines and criteria used to evaluate EoI's will be available from the Ministry of Economic Development's website (www.trade.gov.mv), and from Invest Maldives website (www.investmaldives.org).

The contract will include the Design, Build, Finance, Maintenance, and Operation (DBFMO) of the infrastructure under a Public Private Partnership contract. The project will improve the connectivity and mobility of the populations in the greater-Male' region and facilitate the development of Hulhumale' to its full potential.
