The Government of the Czech Republic, through the Transport Ministry has announced plants to launch tenders for two road public-private partnership (PPP) projects.
According to sources, the first PPP project to be launched could be a section of the Expressway R4. The highway connects Prague and south-west Bohemia region and continues to Bavaria.
The road is partially developed, from planned 84 km only 47 km are in operation, 5 km are under construction and 32 km remains to be built. Based on the Czech Transport Sector Strategies and the feasibility study, it is expected that the project will be full operational by 2022.
The project is planed to be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) model. The concession period would be between 25 and 30 years.
The total project investment is estimated at CZK7.5 billion (US$293 milllion).
The other road PPP project that could be launched is a section of the Expressway R7. The highway connects Prague and north-west Bohemia region and continue to Saxony.
The road is partially developed, from planned 85.5 km only 46.5 km are in operation and 39 km remains to be built. Based on the Czech Transport Sector Strategies and the finished feasibility study, it is expected that the project will be full operational by 2022.
The project is planed to be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) model. The concession period would be between 25 and 30 years.
The total project investment is estimated at CZK9 billion (US$351.6 milllion).
