Czech city opens tender for revitalization Spa on PPP

The City of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, has launched an open tender for the revitalization of the Elizabeth Baths Spa complex as well as the subsequent long-term operations.

The Elizabeth Baths is a traditional medical spa established in 1906 with a direct inflow of the healing springs into the spa complex situated right in the centre of the city of Karlovy Vary. A long tradition of providing specialized medical care spa services together with a broad portfolio of more than 60 medical procedures attract more than 100 000 customers suffering especially from digestive system disorders, metabolic disorders and diseases, diseases of locomotive organs, conditions after oncology diseases and neurological diseases on a yearly basis.

The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) basis and the concession contract will be for a period of 25 years. 

The total project investment is estimated at €13 million (US$14.3 million). The financial contribution of the City of Karlovy Vary to realize all the construction works associated with the complex revitalization project has been set up to CZK300 million (€11.1 million) at maximum. 

The selected supplier will completely realize the project of revitalization of the Elizabeth Baths Spa complex and subsequently will take the spa complex of Elizabteh Baths into use and will take care of the operations providing both the spa care and accommodation services in a long-term horizon exclusively on their own expense and responsibility under the terms of the agreement. 

The open tender is being realized by the City of Karlovy Vary supported by Česká spořitelna, a.s. (member of Erste Group Bank AG) as a financial advisor, HÁJEK ZRZAVECKÝ advokátní kancelář, s.r.o. as a legal advisor and the project architect Ing. Václav Kouba as a technical advisor.
