National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) in Colombia has awarded the Accesos Norte 2 concession contract to the Plural Route Bogotá North Structure consortium. The consortium is a 50:50 JV between Obrascon Huarte Colombia Branch and Termotécnica Coindustrial SAS. Accessos Norte 2 concession aims to improve the entrance and exit of Bogotá as well as its connection with the north of Colombia.
The consortium will be responsible for the expansion of North Highway to five mixed lanes on each road, between 192 and 245, plus the construction of an exclusive lane for Transmilenio from 192 to 235. The project will improve mobility and decongest the traffic of vehicles that circulate between Bogotá and several municipalities in Cundinamarca, including Chía, Sopó, Tocancipá́, Zipaquirá́ and Cajicá́.
The construction of the project is expected to create about 35,000 direct and indirect jobs and aims to benefit 7.9 million inhabitants.
Mota Engil and Coherpa-Icein, project owners for the Ibagué-Honda-Cambao-Manizales corridor concession, have secured COP458 billion (US$116.76 million) funding from Bancolombia, IPC, and CAF-AM Ashmore I fund.
