The Government of Colombia, through the National Infrastructure Agency, awarded the Troncal del Magdalena 2 project to a consortium named Plural Structure Autovía Magdalena Medio, made up of KMA Construcciones SA (50%) and Ortiz Construcciones y Proyectos SA (50%).
The selected firm will be responsible for the development of a 268.4 km road belonging to the Bicentennial Concessions Program, which seeks to build a double carriageway, from Sabana de Torres (Santander) to Curumaní (Cesar). The scope of the project involves the construction of a second lane: 129.3 km and the improvement of the existing lane: 116.2 km. The concession will be for 25 years.
The COP170 billion (US$410.19 million) project intends to improve connectivity between the center and the North Coast of the country. Its construction will also generate 47,947 local jobs.
