Contract awarded for USD3.9 bn road project in Indonesia

The Indonesian Toll Road Authority (BPJT) has selected PT Jasa Marga-led consortium to develop the Gedebage-Tasikmalaya-Cilacap toll road in West Java.

The consortium will establish a joint toll road business entity (BUJT), in which the majority stakeholder is PT Jasa Marga with a 32.50% stake. 27.5% stake will be held by PT Daya Mulia Turangga, PT Sarana and PT Gama Group combined, while the rest of the stake will be managed by PT Waskita Karya holding 20% and PT PP and PT Wijaya Karya holding 10% each.

With an estimated investment of IDR56 trillion (US$3.90 billion), the project includes the construction and operation of a 206.65 km-long highway connecting West Java and Central Java provinces. The toll road will have ten interchanges such as Majalaya, Nagrek, North Garut, South Garut, Singaparna, Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Banjar, Patimuan, and Cilacap. Construction works will be divided into two sections:

  • Section 1 will cover Gedebage–Tasikmalaya toll road and is expected to be constructed in the period from 2022 to 2024;
  • Section 2 will be the Tasikmalaya-Cilacap toll road, and the construction will start in 2027 with the completion date in 2029.
