AD Ports Group has awarded China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) a contract to develop buildings and topside infrastructure at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
CMA Terminals Khalifa Port is responsible for the development of the project. It is a joint venture between CMA CGM’s subsidiary CMA Terminals (with a 70% stake) and AD Ports Group (30%).
The scope of the contract involves the development of net zero carbon administration building, 28 office and utility buildings, construction of around a million sq m of yard paving and access roads.
The port will have an initial capacity of 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units and will be integrated with Etihad Rail and is expected to be operational in Q1 of 2025.
