The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) has announced APLEKTON HOLDINGS CO. LIMITED as the highest bidder for the development of the former Olympic Equestrian Center of Markopoulo, Attica, Greece.
The company provided the following proposal:
• One-time payment of EUR6.5 million (US$7 million);
• Annual rent of EUR180 (US$194.391), which is adjusted annually depending on the consumer price index.
The Markopoulo Olympic Equestrian Center was the subject of an unsuccessful tender in 2014. The project involves the development of the former Olympic Equestrian Center Markopoulo, Attica, where equestrian events were held during the 2004 Olympic Games. The 589.5 ac property is located within the administrative boundaries of the municipality of Markopoulo, in Merenda, 43 km from the center of Athens and 13 km from Athens International Airport. It includes indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
The facility is expected to be developed as a "Theme Park and Recreation", keeping one of its parts the use of sport riding as the dominant use and developing the remaining parts for sports use as well as moderate commercial and tourist use.
