Mexico's Social Security Institute (IMSS) has awarded the contract for a new 90-bed general hospital in the city of Atlacomulco, north west of the state of Mexico.
IMSS selected the local company Promotora y Desarrolladora Mexicana (PRODEMEX) as the preferred bidder for the project.
The tender process was launched in July 2017. A total of twelve companies participated in the procurement process, including Acciona Infraestructuras, Acciona Construcción, and Epccor, among others.
The hospital will have 90 beds and 32 specialties, including internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, among others. It will also have lab and x-ray facilities, four operating rooms and six delivery rooms, as well as a 14-bed emergency area.
The project requires estimated spending of over MXN800 million (US$41.7 million) and will serve over 200,000 IMSS affiliates living in the northern area of the central state. PRODEMEX submitted a bid of MXN558.5 million (US$31.3 million) plus VAT.
The new hospital is part of the IMSS's MXN20 billion national investment plan for 2016-2018, which involves building 12 hospitals and 40 family medicine clinics.
Another specialty hospital is going to be built in Mexico state this year: the IMSS launched a tender process for the General Regional Hospital Tepotzotlan PPP Project this summer.
