Contract awarded for 3 GW battery energy storage systems (BESS) PPP in India
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC) has awarded Greenko Energies Pvt Ltd the contact to deploy 500 MW/3,000 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across India.
The systems will be developed under build-own-operate (BOO) public-private partnership model. The scope of the work includes the development of the interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected battery facilities. Greenko will be awarded a 25-year energy storage service agreement on an annual fixed-charge basis with the NTPC subsidiary.
The company offered a bidding price of INR3.19 million/MWh/year (US$38,682 MWh/year) for the project.
