In the transportation sector, a coastal ferry on the bay of Port au Prince is one of Government of Haiti's priorities. The aim of this potential project is to reduce traffic congestion between the towns of Léogâne, Gressier, Carrefour and Port au Prince. The road is currently heavily congested since it is the principal way to access the southern part of the island to Jérémie and LesCayes

The primary objective of the consultant assignment is to carry out a prefeasibility study on a passenger ferry boat service, for a project that aims to ease the connectivity between Port au Prince, Carrefour, Gressier and Léogâne and help daily commuters reduce the time spent in traffic.
