The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has started the implementation works for the Great Hospital complex located in Encarnación, Itapúa, Paraguay. The hospital is being built on a 51,125 sq. m site located in the Porâ stream neighborhood.
Once complete, the hospital complex will have 266 beds for Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 111 beds for emergencies as well as supporting infrastructures such as a parking lot, helipad, effluent treatment plant and an oxygen generation plant. It will also feature dedicated spaces to handle various services related to emergencies, surgery, gynecology, internship, laboratory, imaging, pathological anatomy and morgue.

The estimated investment value for the project is PYG209.99 billion (US$29.98 million) and is being financed by Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Southern Hospital Consortium, made up of Sociedad Constructora Chaco S.A, Barrail Hermanos SA de Construcciones and EISA is in charge of the development of the hospital complex. The consortium is currently executing foundation and concrete works for the first structural elements of the hospital complex.
