The National Government of Colombia, through the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), has reactivated the construction works of the PPP road project, Malla Vial del Meta. The works start in two specific sections- in the vicinity of the Guayuriba River, in the corridor that connects Villavicencio with Acacías, and in the Yucao Bridge, on the Puerto López - Puerto Gaitán road.
This fourth generation (4G) project includes the Granada - Villavicencio and Villavicencio - Puerto López - Puerto Gaitán corridors. In addition, in the highway ring of the capital of Meta, the intersection of Fundadores will be improved and it will be continued with the construction of a new road that will connect it with the Villavicencio-Yopal 4G corridor.
A total of 267.5 kilometers of road are contemplated, of which 260 are currently in the operation and maintenance phase. The remaining 7.3 will be for the construction of the new road between the Catama intersection and Puente Amarillo. There will also be 3 km of improvement and 26 km of second road (10.6 between Acacías and La Cuncia, 9 between La Cuncia and Ciudad Porfía and 6.2 between the Ocoa River and the access to the Apiay village).
The works, which commit resources of COP2.1 trillion (USD541.16 million), will benefit nearly one million inhabitants of seven municipalities. The project will reduce the travel time of the trucks that cross the city of Villavicencio and the vehicle operating costs by more than 25 minutes, by increasing the speed of circulation.
