During this summer EC Harris has release a nice survey of construction costs in 56 different countries which was conducted across EC Harris' offices worldwide. The title of the report is:
RAPID GROWTH IN EMERGING MARKETS CREATES 2-SPEED RECOVERY.
The report compares constructions costs with those in other 56 countries. Compared to the UK, construction prices in Switzerland are the greatest.
The ongoing problems in the PIIGS have had immediate results with cuts in construction costs over the past year of 14% in Ireland, 8% in Spain and 5% in Greece.
Regarding East Europe, construction price in Russia rose by 9% over the past year, while prices in Poland are approx 30% cheaper than the UK and fell by around 5% over the year.In North America, construction costs in Canada are above prices in the UK although the difference has diminished over the past year. In the USA, construction prices remain around 10% below those of the UK.In the Middle East, the region is grouped closely and is around 90-100% of UK costs.In Asia, India and China are low cost countries with prices running at approx 70% and 55% respectively below UK costs. Japan remains the most expensive country in the region with costs approx 24% above UK prices.See more reports at
