Construction begins for USD1.91 billion Metro PPP project in Côte d'Ivoire

The Government of Côte d'Ivoire has announced the beginning of construction for the Line 1 Abidjan Metro public-private partnership (PPP) Project.

The project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the 37 km Line 1 of the Abidjan Metro in Côte d'Ivoire. The metro line will run along a natural communication corridor from the north (Anyama Center station) to the south (airport station) of Abidjan. The project includes the construction of 18 stations, 24 bridges, 1 lagoon viaduct, 34 pedestrian bridges and 8 underpasses. The project will be carried out by Société des Transports Abidjanais sur Rail (STAR) consortium, consisting of Bouygues Travaux Publics (project leader), Colas Rail, Alstom and Keolis. 

Construction over a period of 66 months will be handled by Bouygues Travaux Publics, Colas Rail will be responsible for the tracks and electrification systems, Alstom will supply 20 five-car Metropolis trains equipped with CBTC and the completed route will be operated and maintained by Keolis.
