The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) of Brazil has signed the concession contract for the BR-153/414/080/TO/GO road PPP with the concessionaire Ecovias Araguaia.
With a term of 35 years, the concession contract will consist of the exploration of infrastructure and the provision of public services for the recovery, conservation, maintenance, operation, implementation of improvements and expansion of the capacity of the BR-153 highway PPP project. The road stretch connects the states of Tocantins, Maranhão, Pará and Amapá with the center-south region of Brazil.
A total of BRL14 billion (US$2.54 billion) will be invested and divided: BRL7.8 billion (US$1.41 billion) for duplications and improvements in road safety and BRL6.2 billion (US$1.13 billion) for the contracting of user services. During the contract period, around 120,000 new jobs are expected to be created. Once operational, the road will be a relevant route for agribusiness connecting the North and South of the country.
