The ecotourism company Fronteiras Navegações e Turismo, of the Macuco Safari Group, has won the concession for the Turvo State Park in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has structured the project, which invovles a lease of 17,491.4 ha with the creation of ancillary infrastructure, connecting footpaths, an observation deck, and the construction of a hotel with a recreation area and trails.
Fronteiras Navegações e Turismo proposed BRL125,000 (US$24,000) for Turvo State Park at an auction held on August 31, Palácio Piratini, in Porto Alegre. The proposed value is 74.77% higher than the minimum limit of BRL71,767 (US$13,786) defined in the public notice. The company is going to invest BRL202.4 million (US$38.87 million) in infrastructure works, better customer service, biodiversity monitoring, and boosting the local economy of cities with parks. The concession for the project lasts for 30 years.
