Commercial close for Westland town hall PPP

VolkerWessels and the municipal council of Westland (Netherlands) have achieved commercial close for the town hall PPP project

The PPP contract for the project was signed on 24 August 2015.

The project will be developed on design, build, finance, maintain and operate basis (DBFMO) and services such as catering, cleaning and surveillance and security are included in the contract. The contract is for a period of 25 years.

The project involves two parts, the Westlands Audience and Civic Center and the Municipal Office.

Construction works are set to begin by the second quarter of 2016 and the new facilities are expected to be operational by summer 2017.

Westland is a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It covers an area of 90.58 km2 of which 11.05 km2 is covered by water and had a population of 103,716 in 2014.

In late August Rijkswaterstaat and Consortium OpenIJ achieved commercial closure for another project in Netherlands, the new IJmuiden sea lock located at the mouth of the North Sea Canal to Amsterdam.
