Chile´s mop tenders concepcion airport concession

Chile's Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has invited bids for the tendering of a concession to develop and operate a new terminal at Concepción airport in the Bío Bío region.

The total investment for the project is estimated at Chile's UF770.000 (US$33 million).

The deadline for submissions of bids is 5 February 2016 and the opening of the proposals will take place on 8 March 2016.

The new concession includes among others the extension of the passenger terminal building, a new car park and new infrastructure for management and services.

The airport, which currently operates under the concession model, is located 5 km northwest of the city of Concepcion. It has a strategic location within the national network of airports, due to the associated high demand, which relates mainly to industrial, forestry, fisheries, manufacturing, tourism and services present activities in the area.

This terminal is an alternative to Arturo Merino Benitez Airport in Santiago, allowing the landing of larger aircraft operating in international passenger traffic, or even when the weather does not allow aircraft landing in Santiago.
