Chile publishes tender for road concession

The government of Chile, through the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), has issued a tender process to develop the route G-60 "Conexión Vial Melipilla- Camino de la fruta" concession.

The total investment is estimated at UF0.91 million (US$39.4 million)

The project involves the design, build, operation and maintenance of the new road. The concession period will be thirty years. The project also involves the upgrade of the Route 66 (Camino de la fruta).

The 31 km road project will link Melipilla and San Pedro.

The tender documents will be available from August 8th. Interested parties must submit their proposals on 26 September 2014. The preferred bidder is expected to be selected on October 16th this year.

The new operator will take care of the unfinished works developed by the company Comsa SA who left the project.

On July 4th, we reported that the MOP had extended the deadline of the tender process for the concession contract to expand and operate Santiago's international airport. Technical and economic bids were initially due on September 30. MOP has extended this deadline to 18 November 2014. MOP had started the pre-qualification process in February 2013.

The concession will require an investment of US$655 million. The concession includes the development of a 200,00 m2 new international passenger terminal, the remodelling and expansion of the existing domestic passenger terminal, the construction of more than 4,000 new parking spaces in a multi-storey car park, and a number of landscaping projects.
