Pre-bid Conference
In August, the Metropolitan Transport Corporationrequested qualification documents from developers of national and international companies to design, develop, construct, finance, own, implement, complete, maintain and transfer (DBFOT) Monorail as Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) for Chennai metropolitan areas in selected corridors.
This week, on wednesday, a Pre-bid meeting was hold in Chennai, at the headquarters of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation. At the meeting, three important points came up:
There is a need to establish the depot somewhere midway on the proposed 54-km long corridor between Vandalur and Puzhal.
Bidders are concerned about the inter-linking of the corridors in the event of different consortiums winning the bid to operate segments of the 111-km-long Phase-I monorail network.
As the technical specifications of most monorail manufacturers do not match, each consortium would need to have its own depot and maintenance facilities.
Remember that the last date for submission of RFQ for developers is 28th September 2011, 15:00 hours. The RFQs will be open that same day at 15:30 in presence of all bidders.
