CH2M Hill appoints European Managing Director

Mark Thurston has been appointed as the European Managing Director for CH2M HILL, taking over from Mark Fallon, who now serves as the Corporate Vice President for Facilities & Urban Environments.

Thurston previously served as CH2M HILL's Director of Operations for Europe based at its regional headquarters in London, United Kingdom. He joined CH2M HILL in June 2008 and has spent much of the last 3 years managing the program partner joint venture (known as Transcend) on the Crossrail project in London. In the 2 years prior to this, he was the program delivery manager leading the roads and bridges program on the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as a member of the CLM delivery partner joint venture.

Jacque Hinman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CH2M HILL, said:

"I am delighted to announce that Mark Thurston has been appointed as the European Managing Director for CH2M HILL. Mark has worked on some of the UK's most iconic infrastructure programs, including the London 2012 Olympic Games and Crossrail, and has a wealth of experience in project and program management. He is well placed to take forward our business in Europe and provide the leadership and market insight that will enable us to continue to grow our market share and ensure we deliver outstanding projects for our clients."

Commenting on the appointment, Thurston said:

"It is a privilege to have been chosen to lead our European business. As well as focusing on growth and delivering projects for our clients across the region, I am passionate about developing the talent within the company and ensuring that our young people have the opportunities I had, from starting as an apprentice, to build a successful career in engineering."

Having started his career as an electrical engineering apprentice, he has more than 20 years of experience in project and program management, working in both the private and public sectors on major infrastructure projects. Thurston has a Master's Degree in project management from Loughborough University.
