The Municipality of Caucaia, located in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza, has signed a public-private partnership agreement (PPP) in the solid waste sector.
The public consultation, took place between August and September 2015 and the bidding process was launched in August 2016. Three companies submitted proposals for the project and finally, Brazil-based construction company Construtora Marquise S/A was awarded the PPP contract.
The purpose of the administrative concession is the provision of integrated solid waste management services. The term of the contract is 30 years and its estimated value is BRL588 million (US$180 million).
A total of 23 PPPs of solid waste have been signed in the country, which make up a total of 98 PPPs.
The State Government of São Paulo, through Artesp (Transport Agency of São Paulo State), has launched the tender process to seek a private partner for the Itaporanga-Franca Lot, "Rodovias dos Calçados” (or Road of the Shoes), of the São Paulo Road Concessions Program.
